Xbox Smart Glass App Updated With 7″ Tablet Support

November 30, 2012

The folks at Microsoft released a new app to the world for both Apple and Google markets which allows you to control your Xbox from your smartphone device. When I say that this is a cool tool to have in your arsenal, believe me you’ll want to have this in your app drawer. But we’ll break down this particular app in depth later on. For now, Microsoft released an update that will now allow the app to be supported on 7″ tablets. Now you’ll be able to operate your Xbox from either your phone or your 7″ tablet.

Xbox Smart Glass is available for free at both the Google Play Store and Apple app store for free respectively. Being able to control your Xbox from your handset or tablet is simply amazing and a sure sign of how things could be going for the future in respects to mobile technology. We’ll do a complete break down of features of the app in our next post later today. For now, let us know if you’ve downloaded it and given it a try. What do you think of the app so far?

Download: Manga Fu Camera and Manga Generator and Make Your Pictures Manga

November 10, 2012

There are a lot of picture changing applications available in the Google Play Store and we found another one that manga readers might want to get their hands on. While reading my news feed on Facebook, one of my friends posted a cool looking picture with using an Apple application that turned the picture into a manga styled photo. So I wondered if there was one available for the Android smartphone and after a few minutes of surfing around I managed to find two good ones.

The first one that I got to play around with was Manga FU Camera. Manga FU Camera allows users to take pictures via front facing camera or rear camera and change the picture by adding one of several backgrounds to the picture to add whatever manga styled effect to the picture. Some range from simple speed lines in the background to a swirling effect making the middle of the picture the focal point. This app is great if you’re looking for an alternative camera to add to your Android smartphone. One drawback to Manga FU Camera is that it doesn’t allow you to access your gallery to change already existing photo’s stored on your SD card to change those into manga styled pictures. But that’s ok because this is where Manga Generator comes in.  Read more…

CBS Sports Fantasy Football App Updated With More Improvements

November 9, 2012

The new look for Live Scoring Mode In CBS Sports Fantasy Football app for Android

For my very first run in a football fantasy league I can honestly say that I have been having a ball. So far I’ve made a nice run but I’ve hit a bit of a losing streak but I intend to bounce back. One thing that has helped ease my fantasy football experience is having an app to make transactions and trades while on the move. Since I’ve entered into a league under CBS Sports, I decided to give their fantasy app a try. I have to be honest, at the very first swing at it I didn’t like it. It was slow, the user interface was bad and actions seemed to load a little too long for my taste. The comment section seemed to agree with my experience too as many of the users that have had leagues under CBS really weren’t feeling the application or its updating progress either which I can understand. I mean you are a major network, why don’t you regularly update your app?

Whatever the case may be, CBS decided to make some nice improvements to the application during this football season and I have to say that I like the direction that this app is going. The user interface looks a lot better with bigger and brighter characters. Player profiles look a whole lot better than what they were and making trades and other transactions are a lot better and smoother than they were when I first got a chance to use the app. CBS Sports Fantasy Football app just recently received another update with some more improvements baked in. Here’s what the latest update brings to the table: Read more…

Google, please dont kill My Off Brand Android Based Smartphone

September 15, 2012

As I write this, I hope my Blu Studio 5.3 doesn’t disintegrate in my hands. I read yesterday in about poor and their want to build and independent mobile operating system. Now Google responds officially and unofficially.

It looks like most reporters are unaware how open Android truly is. I’m sure most major manufacturers are approved by Google, but there are hundreds of lesser known companies in china providing great android phones too. Are they above board with Google? I can only assume so because these androids have the approved mtk6577 chip and the play market. China is making a killing with android so alibaba must really want to be like to nick the system. This is not Google being evil, this is Google trying to stop yet another company from making android a closed ecosystem.

It is bad enough only the kindle fire products has the video on demand app. Why would they allow another huge juggernaut create apps just for themselves? Android is about openness and the leveling of the playing field, not hording the tech just for yourself.

So Google please dont press the allkill button and kick my phone off of play in response to the selfish ones. Also, please don’t stop Zopo and Bedove and others from properly using android. We need competition to force innovation. Look what you did to the iPhone 5, we are clearly winning the mobile OS market. Read
